* Cyber Bulling is a serious issue in today’s schools and business. If everyone adopted and educated people on netiquette guidelines would this issue be solved? Explain. It would help if everyone was educated, but I’m not sure the issue would be solved. I feel that you have to show some people that you mean business. Like if you hurt someone these are the consequences. I believe you should give teen’s jail time for bullying and I promise cyber bullying would stop. In chapter 8 it says that “the computer is neither good nor evil”. (Bowles, Mark D.) Basically it the people who is causing the problem not the computer. We know right from wrong and it our responsibility to promote good things through the internet.

* What type of strategies can educators use to ensure their students are not “flaming” in way that causes damage to others? Flaming is a hostile expression of strong emotions such as swearing, insults, and name calling. If a teacher sees that her students are partaking in flaming she should put a stop to it immediately and try to resolve the problem between the students. She can also explain the netiquette guidelines and web ethics when using the computer.

* What are the advantages and disadvantages of synchronous and asynchronous learning in an online class with students from different professions living all over the U.S. - just like Ashford? Synchronous courses take place in real time with both the instructor and student present in the virtual classroom at the same time. An advantage of the format is the ability of instructors to provide immediate responses, answer questions, review learning, and facilitate brainstorming efforts.
