Types of Power

1. Which type of power do you find most effective?

Rewording Power to me is more effective when it comes to be use for the employees; you must do what your employees want, by you offering something of value for the employee will allow the employee feel important and that you care as an employer. In addition, it will make them do anything that you asked for.

2. Which type of power do you think you have? Do you use it? If so, in what situations?

I use the referent power at my job right now, I like to go above and beyond in what I do, I enjoy exceeding my employers expectations. I feel very good when I know that I have done my best.

If I were to be a manager, I will use the reward power because I think when you show care to your employees, they tend to do anything for you.

I will use the legitimate power to deal all my employees to assure that they understand that even though I am a rewarding manager I have the ability to cope with all the employees.

3. How could you improve your leadership and management skills now that you have a better understanding of the types of power and how they are applied?

I will work more in my legitimate power, sometimes I feel a little insecure at the times when I got to delegate a job to others, if they refuse I tend to say that it is ok, and I end up finishing or doing all the job.
