The Problem and Its Settings

Introduction

Today, people get interested with computers. They tried to indulge themselves on it to have a productive result in a more efficient and time saving process. It is highly valued in institutions like business enterprises, schools, hospitals, government and non-government services. In this regard, we acknowledge the value of computerized system.

General purpose applications that can be run with the use of computers are one of its major advantages. These computerized systems can store large amount of valuable data and records within establishments in an organized way rather than non-computerized systems. Retrieving of accurate stored information from a database that is 99% free from human error and cannot be tampered is also at hand.

With this, known commercial software is being used by many establishments to help them lessen the time being consumed in doing their daily tasks. Moreover, for a Hotel, the use of software written to the specific needs of a certain establishment is more preferable. For thesis project, the researchers would like to propose a computerized accommodation, reservation and billing system to Htu Sienatel. This system project being presented is one of the examples of custom written software that will help a Hotel like Htu Sienatel in processing their daily transactions.

Theoretical Framework

Information is the key for decision making in any business, therefore getting the right information at the right time, at the right place and faster makes lot of difference in any business and so especially in Hospitality Business where the decisions are taken instantly in some levels.

In order to achieve good results through the computer system one should first understand one’s requirement in terms of fastness of information, kinds of reports, formats etc. Second, the flow of work that takes place in each activity.
