1.Introduction

1.1Employee Motivation with in an Organization

In this modern world employee motivation is an inseparable part of productivity in the service oriented institutions. To provide quality service to the customers, the service providers i.e. the employees in branch level play a vital role and should be fully competent for their work, and be ready to provide a quality service. These employees are the persons directly communicate and deal with most of the customers and develop the image of the People’s bank as its representatives. So the motivation of these employees is very essential to sustain as a most preferable bank among the customers in this competitive environment.

In relation to motivation a manager is concerned with both of the two things

(i) The reasons why a human being acts in a certain way, and

(ii) How to channel the effort of the subordinates towards the achievement of organizational goals.

There are many theories exists in related to motivation such as

* Human Relation Approach

* McGregor’s X,Y theories

* Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs

* Herzberg’s Two Factor Theory

* Equity Theory

* Expectancy Theory

1.2 Performance of Employee with in an Organization

A manager should observe and identify the employee behavior in the organization clearly to create and develop a motivation plan to improve their performance. The behavior of the employees not only depends on their personal factors, but it’s mostly related to various factors of the organization.
