Engineers Without Borders Sheffield

Jon Leary, Igor Tsyokhla, Dawn Scott, Cyrus Zarmehr & Matt Fayle

January 2012

-------------------------------------------------

Executive Summary

Building a wind turbine has been a fantastic educational experience for Engineers Without Borders (EWB) Sheffield. Whirlow Hall Farm have offered us the opportunity to continue our wind turbine’s educational journey by giving it a permanent home and incorporating it into their curriculum. Whirlow Hall Farm offers inner city, special needs and disabled children the opportunity to learn experientially about food production and sustainability. Installing a wind turbine here would facilitate the inclusion of renewable energy and energy sustainability issues in their curriculum, which could be taught in partnership with EWB-Sheffield. This document collates the necessary information relating to the proposed installation with the aim of providing evidence for whether such an installation would be advisable.
