What is the vital component of the hospitality industry that oversees an employee’s involvement and time with a company to develop the most beneficial relationship possible? Human Resources, arguably is one of the most critical functions in the hospitality industry. The focus of this paper will be on the advantageous and conducive rapport that Human Resources shares with lodging operations. Human resources is the sector of the hotel industry that acts as a liaison to ensure the relationships between the managerial, corporate staff, employees, and customers run smoothly for their respective hotels (Cathy Enz). Without the staff members and employees, there would be no outstanding customer service, sanitized facilities, or satisfied customers to bring in revenue. Human resources looks to ensure that an employee’s needs are satisfied, that employees set goals for themselves within the company, and that they are contributing the amount of work required to keep the hotel functioning optimally (Tracey).

I chose to write on the topic of Human Resources because I see it as a promising and necessary field, as well as a possible career route for myself. I’ve always enjoyed the thought of working in management and bringing out the best in people in order for them to work to their full potential while also having a great time doing so. I see myself as a resolution man; someone who knows how to get the work done, but balancing out the needs of myself and others as well.
