(PAGE 15) THE JOURNEY OF THE SELF Looking for causes and effects in your own life and grasping the nature of what you feel most deeply. The real people around you and the fictional ones you nurture into existence. The lesson from my discovery is that we can speed our progress by actively searching for how life has marked us. The Creative Inspiration Poetry, Write, Draw, paint, collage. “If you want something in your life, make it physical”. “When artists or architects get an idea, they manifest it by making a sketch, storyboard, blueprint, diagram or 3-D model.” A collage is effective because it’s a visual representation of your heart’s desire — and doesn’t require drawing skills. Quiet the inner critic. It’s normal to bump into blocks and negative voices during life planning. In Visioning, encourages her clients to confront their fears in the pages of their journey. Speak your dream. One person listens while the other describes his or her perfect life for 15 minutes. “Just being heard without anybody giving his opinion brings you clarity,” she/he says. Afterward, the listener shares when she heard special passion in the speaker’s voice. Keep your vision alive. Check in during the weeks and months that follow, either with yourself or your friend. Being accountable increases the chances of follow-through. On a group retreat, each person write a letter recapping what the other envisioned. Seal and address the letter immediately, then mail it a month later to remind the recipient about his vision.

WANTING TO TELL STORIES Our need to tell stories arises, I think, from needing to explore the tensions we carry. Any new truth affords relief because we see a little better where we are, and why. Truth always liberates us, and always connects us with other souls treading the same road.

SELF-EXPOSURE AND GIVING SUPPORT It means showing who you are to the people around you and trusting that it will lead somewhere. The raw material...
