The part that was easiest was actually the research, thanks to the internet. My only other option to research the gaming industry would be to spend countless hours in a public library searching magazines, newspapers and other reference materials. At least using the internet enables me to check multiple sources and sites all at once and enable me to validate my facts easier. The hardest part of this essay is trying to translate my findings into a coherent, lucid paper with a logical order to it and make sure I don’t get too geeky or technical; I don’t want to lose the reader. The other very difficult rule of writing I am having trouble with is not writing in the first person or throwing my personal views and feelings into the mix. Hmmmm, what I got out of this class is the knowledge that I really need to sit down and write a lot more, whether it be a diary, short stories or whatever but I need to practice my writing skills more. In my opinion, critical thinking and writing is a lost art that should be taught in greater detail during the course of regular school, not waiting until later in life when we decide to further our education because of outside stimuli or necessity. The knowledge I am gaining will be invaluable to me from writing reports for my boss or putting together a proposal for a client or future business partner to feeling confident in being able to write objective papers throughout my time earning a degree.
