Chapter 7

1.) There are 3 basic OD strategies: structural, technological and behavioral. All three, in essence, seek to change something about or within the organization. But, they each focus on different aspects of the organization. The structural strategy seeks to somehow change the design of the organization or certain levels of the organization. The technological strategy seeks to improve or implement new computer systems and machinery. The behavioral strategy seeks to increase motivation, morale and commitment of employees/members of the organization.

2.) Potential results of the technique (i.e. - Will it solve the basic problems? Does it have any additional positive outcomes?)

Potential implementation of the technique (i.e. - Can the proposed technique actually work in a practical application?, What are the actual dollar ad human costs of this technique and the impact of the costs?, How do the estimated costs of the technique compare with the expected results?)

The potential acceptance of the technique i.e. - Is the technique acceptable to the client system?, Is the technique adequately developed and tested?, Has the technique been adequately explained and communicated to members of the client system?)

Chapter 8

1.) Process interventions are “often utilized to develop more effective teams. They are used to assist work groups in diagnosing and solving their own problems and to increase the functioning of work groups by helping team members work together” (p. 206). Process interventions seek to help the team as a whole understand how the group is supposed to operate. Not only will the group members understand how to operate, they will understand how they are currently operating and if this manner of operation is effective.
