Unit Six: Concept Check

8/23/2010

Women in society today are outnumbering the male species but are still not advancing to the levels they feel they should be. I believe some of the reasons they are not voting in blocks or helping more to promote themselves within the business environment could have something to do with years of being thought of as secondary to men. This is something that many women have been raised to see and believe, that the man is the bread winner of the family and the dominant person in the house. It doesn’t seem as though one or two generations of different thinking, more education and greater will power can change ever so quickly. While great strides have been made, are being made today and will continue into the future there is still plenty of work to be done.

Women are no doubt equal to men when It comes to learning, working and being successful but it will take generations ahead to make this something that is commonplace and built into our genetic structures. Generations and generations of women being home makers and house wives it seems as if it was built into the genetic mentality of the human race. That is absolutely changing everyday as women continue to strive for the best and make a life better for themselves and learn that they can be successful making a name in this world.

Great women like Rosa Parks and Amelia Earhart were generations ahead of their time understanding what it took to be different in this world. They knew that their minds were not the same as every other woman in the world and they tapped into a part of their brains that made them strong, successful and confident not allowing anyone or anything get in their way or stop them.
