WTTC Case Study

The Tourism industry is forecast to reach more than 1.56 billion people worldwide by the year 2020. World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) mission is to raise awareness of the full economic impact of the world’s largest generator of wealth and jobs which are travel and tourism. WTTC estimates that travel and tourism account for about 10 percent of the world’s gross domestic product and almost 8 percent of total worldwide employment. Tourism’s economic contribution is expected to become even greater in the future. The World Tourism Organization (WTO) uses a broad definition of “tourism”. According to WTO, tourism comprises “the activities of persons travelling to and staying in places outside their usual environment for not more than one consecutive year for leisure, business, and other purposes.” The present discussion is to understand the WTTC blueprint for new tourism plan. The strategy of WTTC towards the development of world tourism, how the WTTC encourages the governments, hotels, travel agencies etc to integrate for the development of tourism which is going to be promising sector in the future.
