Describe how Professional Values and ethics can influence career success

It starts with believing and living by professional values and ethics, and that is making the right choices in our career and making them on a consistent basis in our

daily lives. These are our guiding principles that allow us clarity to make the right decisions in our life. Although they can differ across occupations, they serve a common purpose to enlighten an individual and show a path that leaves no room for decisions which may give your employer the wrong idea about your beliefs. Values and ethics are the principles that help us determine our actions and conduct on any job. “Living with professional values and ethics is all about spending our time on things which are right and eliminating those which are unnecessary. It is more about having clarity and then focusing our energy on things that matter the most” (Mystic Madness p.1) I make it my business to fall in line with company policy, and practice maintaining professional ethics and values daily. I do this by treating others with respect, saying “thank you” and “please”, listening empathetically with emphasis on efficiently resolving issues in a timely manor. I expect to receive the same respect I give. What’s the best course of action one should take to resolve an issue with a coworker? It’s best to pull him or her aside and focus on the heart of the issue. Sometimes the offensive person is unaware of something they have done or said to another that may have been deemed offensive. Be polite, don’t yell, perhaps before approaching the offensive party, you may need to take the necessary amount of time to calm yourself. Managers appreciate employees that demonstrate strong ethics and values consistently. It enhances the work environment by promoting harmony in the work place.
