1 Introduction

People and the inherent culture within an organisation is a company’s greatest asset; Human Resources (HR) has an onerous task in satisfactorily identifying the right person for the right job or role. To achieve this vide direction and consideration of a company’s Vision, Mission and Values, of which formulate the basis of the company’s strategy and goals. Thus, HR need to identify the roles and positions needed to transport the company in meeting its goals by defining organisational structure, job requirements, staffing levels.

Identify an issue within the HR section of the company Kellogg Brown and Root (KBR). To highlight a deficiency and identify how it transpired in to being, and then suggest or recommend ways or methods to mitigate or resolve the issue completely. HR are the peoples people of a company with a grand spectrum of input ranging from CEO’s to line working personnel, therefore they need to be personable in nature and be able apply that nature with all dealings at any level of indenture.

2 KBR Human Resources functions

Human Resource Management has the responsibility of how people meld into an organisation. HR is responsible for inducting people into the organisation, defining position requirements, aiding them to perform their work, compensating them for their efforts, performance appraisals and solving problems that arise. To name but a few functions of a Human Resources (HR) department they include the arrangement of Functional and Structural organisation, staffing, performance appraisals, compensation and benefits, training and development, employee and labour relations, quality, health and safety. This lists but a few in the scope of areas responsibilities for a HR department.
