“Hellenic Air Force’s motivational practices.”
Abstract
The purpose of this report is to examine the practices Hellenic Air Force uses in order to motivate its workforce. Based on current literature and theories on the topic, different motivational tactics are presented thoroughly. By exploring all aspects, it is illustrated that this organization, despite being part of the public sector, gives great attention to its human resources using a combination of both intrinsic and extrinsic incentives in order to boost its efficiency and performance. Therefore, apart from financial rewards, other practices such as recognition, CSR activities, a well-organized retirement plan, a health insurance program, punishment, the opportunity for advancement, mentoring and education are applied for this purpose. Finally, problems arisen are revealed and recommendations on their overcoming are made.

Introduction
Taking for granted that the most significant resource in all product activities is the intellectual capital, what can strongly differentiate a successful firm from a non-successful one are its human resource practices. It is of prime importance not only to attract the best employees, but also to retain them (Chiu et al, 2002). Therefore, every organization needs to motivate its employees in the most effective way in order to achieve productivity, efficiency and supremacy.
