The scientific method is used in every science experiment and in understanding how things work. Many different people can experience the same event and each come up with a different story as to what occurred. This happens because everyone sees things differently. We have different beliefs and perceptions that cause us to see things the way that we do. These differences make us each unique however, they can also make it very difficult to determine what is true and what isn’t.
Scientists came up with a method to determine how to solve a problem. The scientific method is a series of steps that serve as a guideline for scientific research, a tool that helps scientists, as well as all of us, solve problems and determine answers to questions in a logical format. It provides step by step directions in order to help us work through problems. We use the scientific method every day in our lives without even realizing that we are.
The first part of the scientific method is to identify the problem you want to work on. Once you identify the problem, you would move to the second step of the scientific method, which is to research the problem. You can either use books or if it is something fairly simple like an everyday problem, you can just think back to when you have faced this problem previously. The third step is to develop a hypothesis. A hypothesis is an educated guess of what you can do to resolve the problem. You use the problem that you identified and your research to try and determine how to fix the problem. The fourth step of the scientific method is to experiment based on your research and hypothesis. The final step of the scientific method is to look at the results of your experiment and determine your conclusion. Sometimes your experimentation proves your hypothesis wrong and you may need to go back, do some additional research and develop a new hypothesis.
We use the scientific method every day, whether we realize it or not. Every time you...
