Home Depot was founded by Bernie Marcus and Arthur Blank; together they opened the first Home Depot in Atlanta Georgia on June 2, 1979. Their mission is to take care of their people by treating them well. They give back to the community by giving their time, talents, energy and their resources to make a worthwhile cause. Home Depot exercises good judgment by doing what is right. Home Depot also provides good customer service to their consumers by going that extra mile to help them use their merchandise to the maximum benefit. They also create shareholder values, based on trust, honesty and integrity they build strong relationships. Home Depot also encourages their associates to be creative and innovative to serve the customers, by spreading best practices throughout the company and finally they have respect for their associates to work in a non-discriminating and non-harassment environment to make them part of the Home Depot Team. Home Depot is the world’s largest leading retailer of home improvement retailer based on their Net Sales for the fiscal year January 30, 2011. Their products that consist of up to 40,000 different kinds of building materials, home improvement supplies, appliances and lawn and garden products for all of your project needs. The Home Depot is a one stop shopping store that serves three types of customer groups. The Do-it-yourself (DYI) home improvement customers; the do-it-for me (D-I-F-M) customers and the professional customers. Their DIFM installation programs include products such as carpeting, flooring, cabinets, countertops, and water heaters. In addition, the company provides installation of various professional products like generators and HVAC systems.
