Compute RF Behavior

Calculate each of the five measurements in the project by performing every step in sequence. In your own words, summarize what you have learned concerning RF behavior.

Calculations

Step 4 (dBm of 1W): ____________30________

Step 11 (max gain): __________8.4__________

Step 15 (Free space loss): __________-81.561__________

Step 17 between 802.11a and G __________6.8 G is greater than A

Step 19 (Link Budget): ________9.4389999999____________

Summary of RF Behavior

From these measurements we can see what affects signal strengths either boosting or weakening. During the experiment we can see how the signal is affected along the path. Some signal lose is through coaxial cable at 2.45. ghz . Air cell had the lowest signal loss where TG 58 had the greatest. Then we explored how adding antenna adds gain to the signal. Larger antenna would a greater gain. Then we explored the signal loss as it spreads through free space. A comparison was done between 802.11 G and 802.11A. 802.11 G had less signal loss. The final calculation was the link budget. This to determine if the link is to work and would fall under legal limits. From the propagation this will be an 802.11 G signal.

MIMO

MIMO stands for Multiple Input, Multiple Output. Conventional systems consisted of a single transmitter and receiver or Single Input, Signal Output (SISO). The transmitter and receiver each have 1 antenna. This limited the progress of increasing bandwidth. What if you added addition antennas to the transmitters and receivers? This is where MIMO became a game changer. Multiple antennas on the transmission and receiving side. Each transmitting antenna could be sending to a different receiving antenna or the unused antennas can join in and increase the bandwidth.

MIMO is greatly improved wireless...
