A freshmen college student, “Michael Dell”, at the age of 19 became an entrepreneur in the computer business, selling computers from the trunk of his car that he had initially bought from local retailer, with very little resources from his personal savings account and using his vehicle as collateral, with the help of friends, placing ads and with the skills of this young entrepreneur, Dell would then upgrade the computers and sell the at discount that was below the retail price. He was then selling PC’s to local business with sales totaling 50,000 a month. Sales grew to an astonishing 600,000 in one year’s time, doubling “almost every year thereafter”. Within 3 years’ time Michael Dells computer business had expanded significantly and became Dell Computer Corporation. Within that three years By 1989 Michael Dell was recognized by Inc.as entrepreneur of the year, also recognized in 1992 as “Man of the Year” by PC Magazine, in that same year he was also recognized by fortune 500 to be among the World’s largest companies. Between the years 1991 and 1995 the company had such a rapid growth that it became disorganized that Michael Dell began seeking “older, outside management help”, thereafter a team of experienced executives were integrated into Dell Inc. Financial Worlds recognition of Michael Dell was in 1993 for CEO of the year. However in 1995 management decided to resort back to direct distribution and retire all other types of distribution.in order focus back on customer support and services.
