Kudler Fine Foods is considering incorporating a Frequent Shopper Program (FSP) that will reward loyal customers of the company. The scope of the FSP will allow loyal customers to earn points that they can use to purchase such things as airline tickets, special gifts and even Kudler’s specialty food items. This program will be incorporated by the Sales & Marketing team, and they will also handle all legal, ethical and security issues that may occur. This program will benefit the company in several ways. First it will allow the customers that are loyal to our product to receive discounts or even free gifts for continually shopping with us. Another aspect to consider would be the streamlining of our inventory to make sure that the items that our frequent shoppers buy are always in stock. By doing this we keep our true loyal customers and they may most likely suggest us to a friend.
Legal Concerns
The first thing that needs to be done by Kudler is to investigate what laws are involved with this type of program. The first thing that should be done is investigate what state laws need to be met before incorporating the program. California has specific laws that are mandatory for a retailer to inform a customer that their secure information has been compromised. The next step in this process is to investigate the federal laws that are in place. The Privacy Act of 1974, Title 5 U.S.C. § 552a, establishes a code of fair information practice that governs the collection, maintenance, use, and dissemination of personally identifiable information about individuals that is maintained in systems of records by federal agencies ("Privacy Act Statement", 2013).
