Facts on FAA certification and revocation process for the Supreme Court

Commercial Pilot Certificate

PCC warns that a commercial pilot certificate will only allow you to be paid while flying airplanes and does not grant the training to fly a commercial airline.

The training is 200 to 250 hours and includes more advanced maneuvers and theory. With this certificate, you can work as a single engine charter pilot or even become a flight instructor. According to PCC, you can further your education and achieve your multiengine rating then your multiengine instrument rating. Most fixed wing aviation companies will have multiengine aircraft. You will need to obtain your commercial pilot certificate before moving on to get your airline transport pilot license, which is the next step to becoming a commercial airline pilot.

Airline Transport Pilot License This will allow you to fly commercial airlines in the United States. PCC states that you will gain a minimum of 1,500 flight hours broken down into night, cross country, instrument hours and night cross country. You will need to complete a two-part written test and pass an extensive ground briefing and flight exam

Medical Standards

Federal Aviation Regulations require pilots to undergo medical testing to ensure they're healthy enough to fly. To act as a pilot for compensation or hire, the FARs require a commercial pilot license holder to possess a second-class medical certificate. To qualify for such a certificate, a pilot must be free of past heart disease or attacks, seizures, mental illness, cancer and/or insulin-dependent diabetes. Additionally, commercial pilots must have 20/20 corrected vision in both eyes. Pilots must undergo a yearly examination from an FAA-sanctioned aviation medical doctor to maintain a second-class medical certificate.
