TITLE:

FORMULATION OF A CONSULTANT’S MEMORANDUM TO THE CHEW AND SPIT TOBACCO COMPANY RECOMMENDING WAYS TO AVOID CROSS-CULTURAL MISCOMMUNICATIONS WHEN SETTING-UP FOREIGN OPERATIONS

PRESENTATION

What follows is a narrative that could be presented to a company planning to set foot on foreign soil in order to avail itself of the some of the financial benefits an alien jurisdiction makes possible.

The format is that of a long memorandum for delivery to restricted group: The Executive Management Team (the Byrds; see below). It is taken for granted that the Byrds are bilingual in Spanish/ (castellano -see Real Academia Española, definition No. 4-) English and that they possess enough transactional and legal knowledge to successfully research reference sources in Mexico in order to set up shop abroad. The memo is written from the point of view of a consultant, who works very closely with the Byrds.

The purpose of the following memorandum is to make the Byrds aware of current academic thinking related to cross-cultural communications. The memorandum provides them with the axioms of the discourse, leaving in their capable hands their interpretation and, should they opt, implementation.

The memorandum also provides the Byrds with We recommend sections under some topics. These sections provide specific recommendations and/or references for further research on their part.
