The current scenario:

As observed in the above examples such scenarios of lost sales are common across the various retail chains. This problem occurs majorly because of stock unavailability which is an offspring of the various issues rising out of the entire replenishment process. The solution to the problem is manifold and would require careful planning and implementation over a period of time.

Executive Summary

The current replenishment system at L’Oreal is deeply rooted with problems at every level ranging from lack of flow of information to issues with management of sales. The project involves understanding the replenishment system w.r.t. to the various stakeholders involved and analyse the problems that exist in the system. Currently, L’Oreal is not making use of any technology in the entire process. The key issues identified were low fill rates, lack of sales aids, lack of information flow and lack of effective management in sales. The various factors defining the entire process has been considered and a series of recommendations is hereby presented, the highlight of which being use of technology to aid the BDE/BA in the replenishment process.
