Frustrated at Age of 30

1. Anaylze Bob using the Maslow need hierarchy.

Based on the case study, Bob is yet to have a desirable Maslow Hierarcy of Needs. In physiological aspect, he is yet unable to own a comfortable home as he is skeptical to commit himself to a 30-year mortgage since his safety level in terms of securing permanent employment in the next 6 months down the road is yet uncertain. This was attributed by the stiff competition for jobs, combined with pressures by business to keep cost down, he had associated with minimal increase in salary. This factor has also delayed him from settling down with his girfriend that hidden his social well being.Of all happen to him , he was frustrated and leads himself to have a low self esteemed eventhough initially he had achieved a self actualization during the go-go years as he discribed himself as an optimistic person, earning RM$80,000 a year plus bonus and driving an expensive European car.

2. If you were Bob’s boss, what could you do to positively influence his motivation?

I would recommend on the followings:-

i) Stay on one job as it would help him to be more focus in delivering task assigned.Also this enable him to be more efficient and increase productivity that would contribute to good appraisal result at the end of the year. This perhaps would be as a kick start for him to get better promotion hence increase in salary would be promosing.

ii) Live life in an affordable standard of living rather than a lavish lifestyle.This would help him to have better cash management that enable him to service all debts obligations that he had inherited from the study loan and credit cards.
