There was one time in my life that I did not trust in my instincts, and that is a mistake that I will never make again. I have always had good decision making skills and have been good at following my instincts. Simply decisions, such as how to prepare for a project for school to more complicated and serious decisions, such as who I should choose to date and place my trust with I have been good at following my instincts. On December 27, 2007 I did not follow my instincts and this led to a near death experience for me, a family member and my dog.

In 2007 my whole family traveled to the Northeast to spend the Christmas Holiday together. It was a wonderful holiday on all accounts. The entire family spent four days together, talking, eating, catching up on how everyone was doing and doing all sorts of traditional family Christmas traditions. One such tradition was attending midnight mass on Christmas Eve. There was a light dusting of snow on the ground that made the night magical. Christmas Day was just as magical. The whole family visited, ate, played games and had quality family time. During the day while we were listening to Christmas carols on the radio an announcement came through that there was a holiday snow storm that would be moving into the area within the next 48 hours. Since most of my family drove from other towns and states the talks began about who would be going back home when. I initially decided to play it safe and leave on December 26th so that I would miss impending snow storm and have safe driving conditions.

Since the whole family was having such a wonderful time together the majority of the family decided to leave first thing on December 27th so that we could have one more day together.
