Journal 2

I have learned a lot from what I have read and even learned from this class. Here are a least five thing that I have learned so far in this class. IDEA became a law in 2004 I think but not for sure, that there has been a lot of description of case involving least restrictive environment starting in 1980’s to 1997. The thing that stuck out the most to me was what LRE means. This mean least restrictive environment and has to do with children with special need. Least restrictive environment means that a student who has a disability should have the opportunity to be educated with non-disabled peer, to the greatest extent appropriate. I learned what mainstreaming is when it comes to special education. It means a term referring to placing children with disabilities in the regular classroom as much as possible. I did not know that at all. I also have learned that their different test, for example two prong test, and the four-factor test. I knew that there was test but never herd of this two at all. Two prong tests is determining compliance with the IDEA’S mainstreaming requirement. This really did not change my beliefs at all. But I have to say that I have learned a lot. But I don’t understand everything but I further I go in this class I think I will understand more than what I know now, but I may be wrong. I have never heard of least restrictive environment for children with special needs. You know I not for sure how I would apply this content to a classroom and instruction. How should I apply this to my classroom? I would have to say I have never had so many problems in a class like I am having in this class. I just don’t understand some of the work that I need to do, or understand what I am reading.
