1. HRM department is playing a more significant role in organizational strategic processes today than it had 20 years ago due to the realization that human resource specialists must show managers that they contribute to the goals and mission of the firm. In this day and age, the importance of people is more recognized than 20 years ago. HRM strategies must clearly reflect the organizations strategy regarding people, profit and effectiveness. HRM are now being held accountable due to concerns of organizational productivity, downsizing and redesigning. HRM functions today include recruiting, training, developing, compensating and motivating the workforce. HRM has been found to be an important function to achieve the organizations effectiveness that is required to be successful locally and internationally. HRM is now viewed as a “profit center”, 20 years ago HRM was assumed to be nothing more than a “cost center”.

3. With the increase in globalization; competition regarding outsourcing, virtual organizational structures, expanding technologies, faster cycle times, increased legal and compliance scrutiny as well as higher customer expectations leaves us with the need for strategic planning and modern leadership practices. The need for a more knowledge based work force is much needed in order to be a successful organization.

4. HRM functions have increased in stature and have influenced many organizations due to current and future needs that are in demand. Organizations now define success by sustainability and financially. HRM leaders have become valuable assets to organizations. HRM contributions include managing human resources with goals and strategies that are within the organizatons best interest.
