The different employment agencies in the United States help regulate and oversee all relations within employees and employers. Several agencies like the Department of Labor assist businesses and public to provide a fair and solid marketplace. Without these state and federal agencies it will be a chaotic relationship as well as unmanageable. That is why businesses and the public should be very familiar with the different divisions and agencies that provide a relief for this complex relationship “employee-employer”.

There are several topics that are covered by different agencies and regulations, one of them is the safeguard of safety, and this type of issue is treated by OSHA, Worker’s compensation and FMLA. The Federal Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) regulates that employers provide a safe work environment and more so to train and educate their employees to be involve in safe activities, to minimize work related injuries and casualties; Worker’s Compensation is the agency in charge to manage any work related injury and its proper coverage and treatment by the employer; The Family and Medical Leave Act allows employees to take a total of 12 weeks in a period of 12 months for any family or medical issues, as long as the employer employs over 50 people and over.

Another very important subject is the protection of wages, benefits and pensions, these activities are performed by ERISA, Social Security and Unemployment, FLSA. The Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) regulates the duties of employers to opt to contribute towards employees’ pensions; Social Security enforces a flat percentage to be pay by the employee and employer, this amount will be to assist social security, disability and Medicare programs, the unemployment cover all unemployed workers and it is manage under federal guidelines.
