There are many instances where a manager must rely on their training and their knowledge of what it takes to be a good manager to get through tough situations. A good manager will be able to use personal and business ethics to make proper decisions. With the knowledge of the four functions of management a manager should be able to make better decisions and know how to properly execute those decisions. The four functions of management that people need to know are planning, organization, leading, and controlling. By applying these four functions a manager will be able to set themselves up for not only current success but future success as well.

The planning function is very important to ensure that a manager is constantly productive. After these goals are created the next step would be to plan out how his/her department will reach these goals. The correct business decisions will have to be made in order to avoid business ruin. With the right decisions being made a manager can set up their company for future success and also allow for their company to think outside the box in order to take more rewarding business risk, the reason this would now be possible is because the company would be sitting in a good financial position and could afford to take a chance to gain capital.
