Duck and Cover

I cannot remember a time in the past or present; when we did not have some sort of conflict going on, either our own or another county. After watching the video “Duck and Cover” I was really surprised with the video and what it was made for. Living under the threat of a nuclear war and living under the threat of terrorism can have many similarities and differences.

Similarities

Some of the similarities of living under the threat of a nuclear war and living under the threat of terrorism are that living under both conditions can be very stressful for everyone. Having to always be alert, cautious, and even scared to go about your daily routine is something nobody should have to do. Another similarities that both situations have is that it affects the economy. Certain items that were not so expensive, the price can sky rocket all of the sudden. We live in a world where people take advantage of any situation that they can benefit from.

Differences

One of the differences of living under the threat of a nuclear war and living under the threat of terrorism is that with living under the threat of nuclear war there is a some type of warning system in place. There is alarms, designated shelters, and other permeative measures in place. When living under the threat of terrorism there is only one type of warning, it is being on alert. The alert levels just change between five different ones from green, blue, yellow, orange, and red. Another difference between the two is that with living under the threat of terrorism, there is more of an unknown factor. They are willing to attack anyone or anything, nothing is off limits. There is also the diversity within the terrorist, their ability to recruit different people from all types of ethic back rounds, really gives them the advantage of surprise and makes them hard to track.
