Sandwich Blitz is a successful company with lots of potential. With a return of investment at 30% it is understandable that the owners are contemplating a large-scale expansion. Even with such a high ROI there are still factors that both Dalman and Lei are considering that could hinder their expansion. To take all the factors into consideration the SWOT analysis can be used to formulate a strategy.

Sandwich Blitz’ strengths speak for themselves. The company has seen a return on investment of 30% while being in business for less than 10 years. The eight current locations are in centrally located areas and surrounded by both college campuses and businesses. Dalman has a major investment in the quality of the food and the service provided at locations and shows this by being present at the training sessions.

The weaknesses of Sandwich Blitz are not as prevalent as the strengths but are quite significant. Dalman and Lei cannot concentrate on expansion while focusing on the menial day to day tasks as they are now. For large-scale expansions they would need to hire more tactical managers to take over some of these roles. With more tactical level employees, Dalman and Lei could focus on the strategic planning of the business.

A major opportunity for growth for Sandwich Blitz is to really capitalize on the fact that they offer a healthy selection. If Dalman believes his sandwich ingredients are out of the ordinary and could be trademarked, this could give him a competitive advantage over any new competitors in the market.

One threat that Sandwich Blitz has on the horizon is the new sandwich shops that Lei has heard about. This may not be an immediate threat, but definitely something to be concerned with in the future.
