Gloria, a mother of two in the little house on the prairie, are relaxing one evening listening to the Arkansas Traveler as the sun sets. “Laura sweetly gyrates her hips and bends forward to show the world her sexy 8 year old booty and Mary shimmies shakes her 10 year old breast buds all around, both flaunting their bodies for all they’ve got. Gloria looks on, bemused as she watches her two big girls dancing their hearts out. She hears a voice inside of her say, “Hm. This behavior seems a bit mature for their ages. I wonder if it’s okay for them to be dancing like bar girls? Oh, well, it must be, everyone else is doing it. What harm can it do?” (Wordpress, 2012: Para. 1). Like Gloria and her two daughters, many parents across America and other countries as well are faced with the same dilemma on the behavior of their children under the influence of the sexualization culture. It has become a norm, not only for kids, but also to parents who are caught between culture and the principles of a family. As the kids express themselves in a manner that suggests the influence of the sexualization of girls' culture, most parents are unable to decide the cause of action for their children.

Stories such as this one are rampant in today’s society. Children have become the decision makers in our families and they have chosen to behave in a way they think is acceptable and fashionable. This has largely been contributed by the influence of media in their lives through the advertisements, music and videos full of sexualized images of popular women and celebrities. However, we have the power and what it takes to change this through the adoption of Media Education and Show Talks (MEST) plan. This problem can be solved in the best manner possible by focusing on the root cause. However, this plan will neither be easy nor quick.
