Dependencies

Michael’s importance to Lafleur’s Knight Rum line of products is a dependency. Michael is top performer amongst the U.S. operations. Performs at a high rate, proving this by the numbers presented but there is an uncertainty that Michael could fill his predecessor’s shoes. Michael is dependent on others perceptions of colleagues because Michael never got to know his colleagues personally though he had opportunities to do so, this creates a threat to his position at Lafleur. AS for family dependencies Michael has young children at home with a wife whom has settled in an underachieving career so that Michael could pursue a more prominent career with Lafleur. This creates a dependency on Michael to be the main source of income for his household and family. The family is also dependent on the fact that Michael will be geographically stable in New York for the future of Michael’s family.

Political Behavior

Michael’s colleagues do demonstrate legitimate political behavior. All people are striving for bigger and better opportunities for advancement, what better way than to place doubt in the minds of any persons who may be a threat to that individual’s personal advancement. Albert places doubt in Michaels head that Danielle is going to take his job and speak to the company’s CEO Pierre, while doing this Albert may have his own agenda. Danielle sees an opportunity and jumps on it asking for the input of Michael on his very own beverage line.

Opportunity Knocks

Michael should accept the opportunity to broaden his work experience and expertise by moving to China with a well thought out plan. His plan should include the length of time Michael is willing to relocate for, while negotiating trips to New York and Paris offices during his stay in China.
