Victory

Victory is a strong word that people use often whenever they have accomplished a task. Examples of victory can be found anywhere from the Bible to everyday life. Victory is used by people who have fought and won health issues and when people describe various stories from the Bible, such as The Walls of Jericho and Jesus’ Resurrection. The word victory is most commonly used when talking about military battles. An example of victory is when an army wins a battle. Victory is a triumph, not a defeat. The majority of the time you hear victory in history is when an army or a person wins a battle, but now it has evolved into a word that people use commonly to talk about accomplishing everyday tasks.

Victory is something that my family knows a little bit about because when my brother, Zack Caldwell, was four, he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic leukemia. Prior to being diagnosed with leukemia, he went to countless doctors. No doctor could figure out what was wrong. He was referred to Le Bonheur where he was diagnosed with Rheumatoid arthritis. Six months went on with him being diagnosed with Rheumatoid arthritis, and his symptoms did not improve after countless visits with his Pediatrician. My family knew something was obviously wrong. The disease he was thought to have had wasn’t arthritis because his symptoms were worsening. We were scheduled to have an appointment at Shriner’s Hospital for Children in Shreveport, Louisiana, when our family Pediatrician wanted us to visit St. Jude’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. We went on a short vacation and on Monday, November 20, 2006, my mother, father, and brother went to St. Jude’s. After a few tests, we heard the shocking news that my little, four year-old brother had cancer. It is the news that no family wants to hear especially when it is dealing with a child.
