Communication and Collaboration Strategy
People have different learning styles and personality types. When working in a group of people who have different learning styles and personality types there can sometimes be confusion or conflict. When a group of people work together they have to be able to effectively communicate and collaborate in order to get the job done sufficiently.
Three different learning styles that could be in a group are interpersonal, intrapersonal, and verbal / linguistic. Interpersonal people work well in a group, communicate verbally and nonverbally, and create and maintain relationships (Carter, 2007). Intrapersonal people understand themselves in relation to other people, evaluate their own thinking, and express their feelings (Carter, 2007). Verbal / linguistic people analyze their own use of language, convince people to do something, and understand word meanings (Carter, 2007).
In order for a group with these three learning styles to communicate and collaborate effectively they would need a strategy. This group of people would need to communicate verbally for the most part because interpersonal people are able to communicate verbally, intrapersonal people are able to verbally communicate their feelings, and verbal / linguistic people are good at verbal communication. This group could work together effectively by expressing their feelings, trying to understand the feelings of the other team members, and calmly discussing any issues that may arise. The interpersonal people would be able to teach or explain things to the other members of the team. The intrapersonal people would be able to keep notes and think of experiments. The Verbal/linguistic people would be able to teach and explain and rewrite notes.
