Is the Sullivan University Library meeting the needs of the faculty?
I received my Bachelors of Science Business Administration degree from the University of Louisville almost 30 years ago. When I made the decision to pursue my Masters of Business Administration at Sullivan University, I realized that there may be a culture shock but none as much as using the library. When I was an under graduate student, there was no technology in libraries; we worked with card catalogs and everything was in paper or microform. Libraries were the place where the students would go to research, to learn and to study. It was a place where we could meet as study groups or as a class to share ideas and information.
30 years later , Sullivan University library has to meet the needs of facility and students by providing digital materials and services, forming new research and teaching partnerships. I wanted to make sure that the technological advancements could bring library resources to my desktop computer or even my smart phone which is a huge improvement. As a Sullivan University student it is important to me that the Library effectively meet the unique requirements of each specific major whether it is certificate, degree or graduate degree while and maximize the Library research and maximize the instructional capabilities within the University. The library is a reflection of the University and as such needs to reflect the mission of the institution. The library mission is “The library’s mission is to support the University’s mission in the pursuit of academic, instructional, and institutional excellence (namely, “to educate students effectively and efficiently for employment in high-need career fields and to provide the graduates with viable employment assistance in locating positions commensurate with their Sullivan University education”).
