CHAPTER I

THE PROBLEM

Introduction

Do you find yourself waiting until the last minute to finish your writing projects? Do you love the rush of adrenalin you get when you finish the paper ten minutes before its due, but you could getting tired of pulling all night? Do you have a research that you just can’t start? A letters that don’t get written? How about bills that don’t get paid till they’re past due? Movie rentals that have bigger late chargers that movie cost to rent? A wall you come up against when you try to start something? And a promise never put things off again? If you recognize any of these scenarios, procrastination maybe sneaking into your life, stealing valuable time, and eroding your productivity.

Procrastination is the seemingly never ending battle to get things done on time. It is about things being done late and the torture you go through to get them done at all. Procrastination is about promises to change but not being able to for reasons you don’t understand, don’t know or do know what to do about. Procrastination come form Latin word “Procrastinus” meaning literally “forward to tomorrow”. The problem is that unless the task is met today, “tomorrow” can convert into weeks, even months and years.

Everyone procrastinates. We put things off because we don’t want to do them or because we have too many other things on our plates. Putting things off –big-or small is part of being human. It is natural to procrastinate occasionally, however excessive procrastination can result in guilt feelings about not doing a task when it should be done. It can also cause anxiety since the task still needs to be done. Further, excessive procrastination can cause poor performance if the task is completed without sufficient time to do it well. In short, excessive procrastination can interfere with school and personal success. There are many way to avoid success in life, most sure-fine just might be procrastination. Procrastinators...
