My initial thought after reading this case study and going over its survey / questionnaire was, what is the main concern or goal of the Akron Children’s Hospital. If the research was being conducted just for the mere fact of increasing revenue, then what message is that really sending, are they promoting more sickness or better health care results. If a child is afflicted with an acute illness.

I would think that as parents we would want our child to have the best care available.Research without a defined purpose can be as useful as no research.

1. Develop a focus group discussion guide for the research described above.

a. What topics should be discussed in what order?

a. What is the determining factor in where the parents take their children for serious medical treatment?

b. Quality?

c. Finances?

a. Ask the parents if they would provide a detailed log of their child’s health issues within reason.

2. Evaluate the use of the telephone as the method of the survey.

a. First the use of telephone surveys can only be a small sampling for the research because the asking of open ended questions can lead to lip service just to get you off the phone. The focus group and telephone survey are some of the correct methods to be applied during this phase of the research

3. Evaluate the questionnaire used for the telephone survey. Make sure to discuss scale type, question wording, question number, topic order, transitions, and interviewer directions.

a. Based on the result of the case study the questionnaire for the telephone survey was effective.

b. The questionnaire stayed on topic, thus holding the interest of participant
