Nowadays, with the high-speed development of technology, a huge amount of high-tech products participate in our daily life. Cell phone is one of the techniques that fulfill and color our life. Almost everyone in United States owns a cell phone. College students could be one of the groups who heavily rely on their cell phone. Cell phone to them is not just a machine, but a way of communication style. They use cell phone to chat, to email, to gather information, to record, and so forth. It just likes hand-held computer.

When I stroll around the campus, it is also very easy to find students with iphones. I still remember when iphone 4 just came in, there was a long waiting line in Arden’s Apple store, and almost half of them were in our age. Even though iphone 4 has been proved that it has signal problem, people still want to purchase it. Iphone has lots of strong functions, so does some other cell phone brands, like black berry. Then a question comes into people’s mind, ‘Facing those many different types of cell phone in the market, such as iphone, black berry, how do college students decide which one to buy?’ Or we can state it in this way, which function cause greater purchase intention among college students, entertainment or business? The reason I arrived at this topic at the very first place was because one of our group member works as a technique support in Apple store. He said most of his customers are college students. One of other group member mentioned, when she did her internship, she noticed most of the people who work around her were all use black berry, she was the only one who owns an iphone. Those phenomenons arouse our curiosity. Why iphone are so popular among college students? I cannot help thinking it might be that iphone has such a strong entertainment function, which just fit young generation’s desire.
