Qualitative Research in Logistics
Introduction
Logistics Management is the bloodline that makes operating businesses succeeds. It is essential to understand the qualitative measures that must be enacted to keep that flow moving forward. Qualitative research provides an opportunity to become more familiar with the material or topic being presented.
Statement of the Problem
In the field of education in Logistics and Material Management research is a key element as it identifies proper procedures and operations in procurement, budgeting, transportation, and flow of materials. Research is important as it used to establish or confirm facts, reaffirms result and solves new problems, or develops new solutions. The goal in all types of research is to produce new knowledge or understanding of a certain issue or topic. Qualitative research allows for a more involved process and applying this method in logistics helps by not implying or assuming a conclusion but rather an accurate answer based on was the research has guided the result.
Literature Review
The article discusses the theme of the issue, industrial logistics systems and operations, and the role industrial logistics plays in imparting competitive advantages upon companies in market economies. Topics include the subjects of papers appearing elsewhere in the issue, including global operations and logistics management, third-party logistics and e-logistics, and warehouse management systems. Additional topics include performance analysis, green supply chain management, cross-dock operations problems, and reverse logistics (Gunasekaran & Choy. 2012).
Many modeling techniques have been developed to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of forward logistics and supply chain management. As this article will illustrate, modeling techniques can be helpful in improving the management of...
