Introduction

In this case analysis we will be taking an in-depth look at two similar companies; A&W and Peter’s Drive In. We will be analyzing each company’s mission and vision statements; critiquing each and making suggestions to better improve their overall message. We will determine the effects the macro-environment has on both these companies and which one of the 6 elements has the largest impact on the fast food companies. Additionally, we’ll be evaluating the companies competitive strategies as well as their competitive advantages to help us determine what they have done to become and remain successful.

Vision and Mission

A vision statement outlines the goals and aspirations for the future of the company. It should talk about why it exits, what it does and for whom. It serves as an ongoing guide about what the company is about. A mission statement defines the company’s business, its objectives and its approach to reach those objectives. Elements of a mission and vision statements are often combined to provide a statement of the company’s purposes, goals and values. However, sometimes the two terms are used interchangeably (BAIN). Therefore, the mission and vision should portrait the actions that the company takes that will lead them to what they strive to be in the future.
