• Imagine there’s a fire in your house or apartment and you have five minutes to grab your possessions and get out. Everything you leave behind will be destroyed. What would you grab, and why? When you think about what you left behind, are you sad that you lost it or happy you were able to take what you did?

I grab my go bag in my safe, which has my important documents in it. My social security card, birth certifice and my pets. When I look back after I am happy that I was prepared for such an emergency and happy that I’m alive.

• What things would be easiest to give up in life when it comes to money? Why? What’s the one thing you would never give up, even if you can’t afford it? Why? As you looked through your house and found things you’ve purchased and haven’t used, is there one thing that stands out as a glaring mistake? If so, what is it, and why was acquiring it a mistake?

For me cable would be easy to give up. I have enough dvd’s and there is always internet to watch tv. I would never ever give up my hair appointments. I love going to get my hair done. I don’t usually buy things that I’m not going to use.

• What have you purchased that you thought was a need, but turned out only to be a want? What made you think it was a need? What strategies do you plan to implement to ensure you are purchasing only items that are needs?

My Kitchen Ade stand mixer was what I thought was a need because I like to bake. In the future I will write out a need/want list and if the need side is validated then I would purchase, if not I will decide accordingly.

• In Suze’s video “Uncluttering Your Financial Life: Finding Your Path to Financial Freedom,” Suze suggests piling the “junk” that you have into the middle of your living room. How did collecting your junk make you feel about your financial status? What did you learn about yourself from the experience?
