2. a. Geotracking is used to identify a person’s current location by obtaining GPS data from their smartphones of other GPS enables devices. This can be used to create surveys based on information collected about person and their location. Another example would be using fitness devices like the Nike app it will track where a person has been and how far they may have walked or jogged in a location.

b. Geotagging is adding the current geographic location of the camera or smartphone to an image or message or adding a static geographic location to a street address. This is use when a person post messages or pictures on Facebook and the location where the photo was taken or even where a person was when posting is shown.

c. Location-based service is a general class of computer program-level services that use location data to control features. Location-based services is not just one but many different technology. There are different types that law enforcement may use and one would be the ONSTAR feature this is used to locate a car it has crashed. ONSTAR can communicate with driver as well send help if needed. There are many apps today that enhance the consumers experience base on the location based services such as ShopKick this app alerts you when you are near stores with rewards. Also there are apps to help you find near by ATM’s.

4. a. From privacy standpoint some advantages would be if you were in accident help could be sent to aide you. On the other hand some disadvantages would be that you really don’t want you location exposed all the time; this may also start businesses contacting you in other ways based on your location.

b. I do believe this agency should enforce some legislation regarding these location-based service there should not be a total disclosure of all locations. The consumer needs to know the rights so they can restrict what data is reported but it must be clear to them....
