The Federal Energy Regulation Commission (FERC) an agency of the U.S. federal government with regulatory authority over liquefied natural gas, oil pipelines, interstate and wholesale electricity sales and hydroelectricity. Its duties include making and enforcing electric reliability standards, licensing projects and investigating energy markets. It has some authority over pricing in that they have the authority to leverage “cost of service” regulation that sets retail rates to recover expenses and give a “fair” return on capital. It was established in 1977. The FERC is the primary government agency that works in conjunction with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to make sure that the rules and regulations set forth for the various battery types in circulation along with power grids and power monitoring centers are up to standard and are not polluting the environment or overcharging customers for services received.

The World Forum on Energy Regulation (WFRE) is the world's foremost conference in energy regulation. It was created as a cooperative effort by the world's main regional regulatory associations to include the United States of America and Europe. Two of the largest energy consumption countries in the world, accounting for over 50% of the world’s energy (gas and electricity) combined. It aims at providing a venue where energy regulators and other energy market stakeholders may discuss issues and experiences of common interest. The energy targets are globally imminent and the challenge of creating a sustainable energy supply has not yet been adequately addressed but the goal is to have a huge need part addressed at these venues by the year 2020.
