Lab 2 Writing a Lab Report

Materials and Methods:

1.) Beans

2.) 5x8 in. Bag

3.) Paper Towel

4. Masking tape

5.) Water

6.) Marker

The variables that I tested is moisture, sunlight and temperature. First, wash the beans and let them soak over night. Next, I will use 10 beans each, put them all in a bag and line them up horizontally on the paper towel that is also in the bag. I closed the bags using masking tape and placed a wet, not a soaked paper towel which is folded between them except the one that does need light, which is the variable sunlight, do not fold. Then I label each bag with the 3 variables, using a marker. The duration of this project is at least 7-10 days. For the sunlight experiment, I placed the bag outside around 11am-4pm under the sunlight.

Results:

The seed germinations for moisture, the seeds turned pale and you can see that it began to sprout around day 4.

The seed germination for sunlight, the sun is out but it has been cold lately. The paper towel was still a little damped, but I damped it a little more where I felt dry spots. The seeds felt a little soft around the 4th day but I did not see any sprout forming until the 6th day.

The seed germination for temperature, I used room temperature. It was 70 degrees, due to the heat being on. I had to damp the paper towel due to the dry spots as well. The seeds felt soft and it was also pale, it started to spout around the 6th day.

Discussion:

(Hypothesis)

If the seeds remained in a damped environment, no matter what variable it may have been, the seeds would sprout or changed in texture. (supported)

The temperature and the sunlight varabiles goes hand and hand because they both deal with either hot or cold. The room temperature seed germination experiment was a little more effective due to the 70 degree temperature. But the sunlight it was effective also but not as much as the room temperature because of the cold weather which had a effect on the seed germination. The moisture...
