Riordan Manufacturing has decided to make changes to the company’s customer management system. There are many factors involved, including but not limited to management of the changes and communicating them to the employees involved. The Change Management and Communication Team have come up with a plan to implement the called for changes as well as making sure they are communicated effectively. According to "Meliorate" (2014), “Companies most likely to be successful in making change work to their advantage are the ones that no longer view change as a discrete event to be managed, but as a constant opportunity to evolve the business”(pg1).
Change Management
The company does not currently have any formal system for managing their customer information. The company has left this task up to individual employees to manage. The new system that needs to be implemented will require all employees to use one customer management system. A team has been created to work on helping Riordan Manufacturing to implement the changes. An organizational structure defines how job tasks are formally divided, grouped, and coordinated (Robbins, 2011).
Before the team can create and implement a new system, they must first know and understand the current structure of the organization. is a global plastics manufacturing company. Riordan Manufacturing employs 550 people. They have a plant that is located in Albany, Georgia, that produces plastic beverage containers. The plant in Pontiac, Michigan, handles the production of customized plastic parts. Plastics fan parts are produced at the facility in Hangzhou, China. All the company’s research and development is done at the corporate headquarters, in San Jose, California. Dr. Michael Riordan is the President and CEO of Riordan Manufacturing.
