1. Exercises:  It has been said that the past can predict the future. Examine the timeline in The Evolution of Information Technology web site and discuss how this history might help professionals and industry specialists predict the future of information technology.

Based on this timeline, what type of future technology might we be able to predict? Discuss a particular period and technology that might have had a profound effect on its development. How does your perspective compare to that of Downes and Mui (2000)?

From 1837 to the future the technology has progressed into a big epidemic especially with today’s society. I know that in the future technology is going to be very unique and futuristic. We may also predict some voice activitated phones and only the ear piece module so you wouldn’t have to carry a phone. We already have touch screens and some voice activated phones. Technology is going to expand drastically.

I would say the enigma machine and bombe. The Smithsonian era, I say it will have a profound effect on its development. The military is very secure with their tasks and drills and need this device in order to communicate with others. , and using the bomber to hack into the enemies conversations to decipher the messages. So yes, it will have an effect on their development.

We both agree on the time frame it can take for new technologies to be experimented with and put out. I agree with downs and mui when they talk about new technologies have made it possible to experiment cheaply. Yes technical transformed innovation at its core allowing companies to test new ideas at speeds and prices that were unimaginable even a decade ago. They stick things on the websites and tell within hours how customers respond. Innovation initiatives that used to take months and mega bucks to coordinate and launch can often be started in seconds today for cents. The US does vast majority of our concept testing online...
