Advantages Gained

There have several advantages that can achieve from the implementation of linear programming in the company. Firstly, the linear programming analysis can help to determining the feasibility of the management’s plans. The decision making about problem allocation of available productive resources such as time production, labor, and the machines to the activities production can be made by the manager using the linear programming analysis. Due to the decisions are made objectively and not subjectively through linear programming analysis, so the quality of decision making can be improved. In the short, linear programming always guaranteed to find the optimal solution for maximum the company profit and provides the natural sensitivity analysis.

Secondly, the wastage of resources of the company such as time and money can be avoided by implementation the linear programming in the company. This is due to linear programming is the management science technique that related low data requirements and is a very easy methodology to execution in the company.

Disadvantages Gained

Beside than bring out advantages to the company, implementation of linear programming in the company also carry out disadvantages to the company. Firstly, when the constraints or objective function of production problems in the company are not linear, the linear programming technique cannot be used. It is because of the linear programming technique is applicable only to the problems where the constraints and objective function are linear. Only when the constraints and objective function are linear, the problems can be expressed as equations thus solve the problems.

There may not be an integer as the solution, e.g., the number of men required may be a fraction and the nearest integer may not be the optimal solution. For example, linear programming techniques may give practical valued answer which is not desirable.
