Curriculum Studies – Providing a Positive Learning Environment

Introduction:

A positive learning environment is a place which provides the opportunities for children learning better through play. It could stimulate children's interests on what they play and extend their learning and knowledge through play. It is very important for early childhood education teachers to provide a positive learning environment for the children which could guide the children learn much better. It is also very important for the teachers to have good and strong relationships with the children. Co-construction is important for both teachers and children in education.

This essay will talk about how co-construction provides a positive learning environment to the children. Social culture assessment will be described and talked about by linking the influence of Te Whāriki. This essay will talk about how Te Whāriki influences programme development by linking to New Zealand’s context as well as some philosophies. This essay will talk about the ways as early childhood education teachers use to encourage children to be independent which is a part of their self regulation. The ways to build positive relationships which enhances children’s development and learning will be talked about. How teachers use positive guidance strategies to give opportunities to the children for the meaningful learning also will be discussed by giving an example. At last, the way how teachers notice, recognise and respond to learning opportunities for children also will be discussed.

Co-construction occurs when children and/or practitioners construct meaning and knowledge about the world together in interaction (Dunphy, 2008).
