Abstract

Organization and communication goes hand in hand. An organization sets up specific objective in order to meet business success. In order for the objectives to be achieved of crucial importance is organizational communication. Communication is the key factor in the workplace culture expectancy and normalcy. It impacts the employees and management perception as well as conflicts. I have researched and reviewed Southwest Airlines Co. organization philosophy, mission, vision and values statement. This paper will discuss the organization espoused values and how they align with the enacted values. This paper will discussed the culture and communication of Southwest Airline Co and the role communication play in the perception with the organization. This paper will also identify the role of conflict with group communication and how the organization chose to use conflict to improve communication within or among groups.

Herd Keller founded Southwest Airlines forming the business model and corporate culture of the organization as it exist today. The culture of the organization is more of an informal culture with a strong background. Southwest has a strong culture because of their core values are both intensely held and wisely shared across the organization. Southwest believe in living the southwest way, which is to have warrior spirit, work hard, desires to be the best, be courageous, display urgency, persevere and innovate. The Southwest way follow the rules, adhere to the principles, treat others with respect put others first, demonstrate proactive customers services, embrace the Southwest Airline family.
