Anorexia

There are many young girls at risk of anorexia thinking theyre too fat or overweight. This explains why girls have such low self esteem. A high population of girls are self conscious abut their bodies which then leads them to excessive dieting or extreme dieting. Starting at such a young age leads to complication later in life, physically and emotionally. They can only last so long in a painful position like this, that they will most likely be needing psychological help. So many girls out there wishing they had the “perfect body” and a lot of them thinking the only way they can get that body is by not eating. “Between 5% and 20% of people who develop the disease eventually dies from it.” (Anorexia Nervosa - Causes, Symptoms, Diagnosis, Treatment for Anorexia). Girls knowing so little of what this cause, they’re not afraid to just “try” it. “The disease usually develops in adolescence… right at the time when young people are supposed to be putting down the critical bone mass that will sustain them through adulthood. “ (Anorexia Nervosa - Causes, Symptoms, Diagnosis, Treatment for Anorexia). Seeing your body change and not having the skinny body you had when you were much younger is depressing for some girls. “It has the highest death rate of any mental illness”( Anorexia Nervosa - Causes, Symptoms, Diagnosis, Treatment for Anorexia). The thought of just not being perfect like super models on t.v scars girls, sometimes too much it leads to unwanted results.

There are many ways to lose weight in a healthy and safe matter, and that’s something girls do not understand. “No matter how weight loss is achieved, anorexia has a number of physical emotional and behavioral signs and symptoms” (Definition).
